Goodbye green warped door...hello pretty new door!!

A day at Six Flags

Here are some pictures of Sara, Nolan, Bob, Morgan and me at Six Flags. We found out very quickly that Morgan isn't a fan of roller coasters or anything too fast. And Nolan is just the opposite. He would laugh hysterically and want to go faster. Sara even said by the end of the day, he had ridden on the Screaming Eagle. What a brave boy. Morgan is content on the carousel, the train, the Log Flume and Thunder River. Bob and I will have to go to the park by ourselves so we can get our fill of roller coasters. Looks like Brody will be our roller coaster rider. He already loves to go up in the air and act like he's being dropped.

Yes...she liked this one...go figure.

Best Places to Live, 2009 Edition

Monday, July 13, 2009
9. Lake St. Louis, MO

Top 100 rank: 9Population: 13,900Typical single-family house: $230,000Estimated property taxes: $3,000Unemployment rate: 7.6%Pluses: Affordable homes, activities galoreMinuses: Significant jobless rate, little diversity

Created 40 years ago as a resort community, this friendly town outside
St. Louis has two man-made lakes, plus five parks, three golf courses, and a 650-horse equestrian center. But the place was soon colonized by full-time residents with children, drawn by the myriad activities and low crime.
Lake St. Louis has two main flaws. First, in order to enjoy all the town's perks, including a clubhouse with swimming pool and tennis courts, you must join the Community Association (annual dues: $450 per family)--and the 20% of residents who live outside the association's boundaries aren't eligible.
Second, Lake St. Louis is one town over from a General Motors plant that will complete layoffs of nearly half its 1,800 workers this month. That's not good news, since the jobless rate is already on the high side. However, thanks in part to lots of health-care employers here, strong job growth is projected over the next five years.

So much for the minuses….

Happy Bday Aunt E!

Here is Morgan riding her big girl bike. Nevermind that she got it two Christmas' ago. Nevermind that she's already outgrown it. Nonetheless...she's riding it!! She's such a big girl. A few weeks ago, it was bike day at school and she was the only one that wasn't riding a big bike. I gather she was self conscious about it because when she got home that night, she said, I want to ride my big girl bike!! And there she goes...

Another video of Brody. This one shows him laughing. Too cute not to post.

Bob is off fishing with a friend at the famous Lake 7 at Busch Wildlife Preserve. Chris and Bob left about three hours ago and Dana and her girls came over to play for a few hours. Kylie is 4 and Ashlynn is 15 months old. Morgan and Kylie were playing dress up in princess dresses. I will see if Dana will forward me the pictures of the girls. They were too cute! Ashlynn was busy walking around and wanting to get in the cabinets and wanting to go upstairs the whole time. It was cute! I don't think Dana sat down for more than two minutes at a time. Brody was taking it all in and wondering how he "lucky" he was to be around so much estrogen!!! I think Ashlynn was mesmerized by how little Brody was and she was giving Brody (and me) lots of kisses. And the cutest thing of all....Ashlynn bumps knuckles. I wish I had a picture! Then she wanted to bump knuckles with Brody. We all got a good chuckle over that!! Thanks for coming over to play!!

Thursday during the day, was spent trying to get the ground level for the blow up pool. Let's just say, there was some frustration in that chore. Needless to say, more work still needs to be done before it's level. The rain kind of did the pool in last night.

It was a good 4th of July weekend. Friday Bob cleaned out the garage and the basement. Friday night, Dana and Chris babysat Brody so Bob and I could go to see Transformers. It was a great flick. Bob and I enjoyed ourselves.

Anyway, then on Saturday, Bob went to work for a few hours, I picked up Morgan and we headed back home. Mom and Tom came over for dinner and then we went outside and shot off some fireworks with the family next door before heading the Chesterfield to watch the fireworks. Morgan was more interested in dancing around and being silly than watching the fireworks. Brody did watch some of the fireworks. I wasn't sure if he would or not. Mom, Tom, Bob and and I oohed and ahhhed at the fireworks before the rain came back. Then we headed home and put the kids to bed.

Because we are down to one car, Bob took the car and went to work again for a few hours today so the three of us stayed inside today. I was actually able to get in a few hours of reading, Morgan was vegging out watching tv next to me in bed. Brody must be going through a growth spurt because he had one nap that was four hours and another that was three hours. And he ate like a champ!!

No one can ever say that I am overly observant. Last weekend, in my rush to get to church, I neglected to see our Mazda parked in the driveway and decided to play bumper cars or "rubbing, son, is racing" (from Days of Thunder). And my daughter, in all her glory, "Mommy, why did you hit the other car? Aren't we going to church? I really wanted to go to church. Mommy, why are you upset? I wanted to go to church." God bless Morgan. Not only did I hit the other car, WITH Bob watching, I let my daughter down by not taking her to church. (Side note, ALL day I heard about Morgan wanting to go to church, and why didn't we go.) And yes McWhorters, Bob hasn't let me forget about hitting the other car yet. I don't think I will ever live this one down!!
